So I have now had to deal with the gmail storage, and have found the purposefully misleading language somehow leads to Google profits. No one to call or ask for help just a buy button that does not buy any solutions. Offered is more space on the Drive but not in Gmail. I found a similar experience when investigating online….
Google will lead you to believe to you need to buy google drive to continue to use gmail, if you reach your gmail storage limit! This is misleading, WATCH OUT: PURCHASING GOOGLE DRIVE STORAGE DOES NOT INCREASE GMAIL STORAGE LIMIT, even google’s tech support confirmed this fact. More info ——– Have you been keeping an eye on that ever increasing gmail storage ticker? Good! But there is another ticker google has in your gmail, and that is your used storage. Mine is in red because I am using 99% of my storage. Apparently, Google will totally disable your incoming and outgoing emails, until you free some space by deleting some emails or purchasing additional storage (misleading ticker at top of gmail screen). How convenient was it that at noon, google completely freezes my email transaction in the middle of an urgent email I was sending at work. So, I follow the first item listed which is to free up space in my account. I have deleted 4,000+ emails, and yet my gmail was still locked. So, I go on to try the second item, which is to purchase additional storage. Oh, what a great deal! Its only $2.49/mo for 25GB. Great, maybe this can get google to unfreeze my account. There is not a single customer service representative which I can speak to, my only hope is someone will answer my support within “24hrs” After wasting my time with google, I scurry my urgent email to hotmail and get the job done! —– UPDATE GOOGLE RESPONSE —— “Thanks for writing in. Google storage plans apply to Google Drive and Picasa, only. Your Gmail storage is bumped to 25GB of total storage as a freebie, but Gmail is still separate from your plan and remains active for the duration of your Google storage plan. This is because it’s not possible to buy more storage for Gmail at this time. ” WHAT!?! Then please explain why the ticker at top of gmail displays to purchase additional storage!!! I definitely want my money back, and google has lost a huge fan.
