Kiosk by Scio

Our further development and support of automation continued through instillation of systems into Walmart and Safeway stores. These stores were the first to receive self checkout and constituted the removal of personnel attended checkouts. The process was revolutionary for the company and marks the evolution of our technical advancement. We continued to upgrade these systems within the environment.

From Design to Lifecycle

We can help you design a kiosk to fit your situational or campaign needs for any environment. Some customers need a less vulnerable and hardened kiosk, where as other customers are focused on user experience that captivates the imagination. We can create a solution to withstand any environment. There are many technologies that are used together. Many times a customer will be unaware of the solutions, and need only consultation. We are here to help our customers understand the components involved in bringing together virtues of kiosk. A kiosk can be created in a configuration that is totally unique.

Scio was part of the pilot and original team that designed and developed the first DMV self registration kiosk. Prior to the first kiosk being deployed in the country, California DMV headquarters in Sacramento worked on implementing, developing the new use of this existing technology. We would work with the fabricator of the ATM shell, the DMV Tech Ops, in getting the software, printers, cabling, card readers, screens, and everything worked out. The first machines were deployed at Sacramento DMV's then implemented around the state then county.

Scio was part of the pilot and original team that made the first Safeway rollout projects of self checkouts. We worked with general contractors to clear out old stands, electricians to provide power while we set up the new checkout lanes. We were very lucky to receive these customers and a market that was first to deploy in a area accessible to us. We had worked with Safeway in the past many times at site and headquarters. This kiosk install was something that would quickly become a trend.
